Description

Reblooming iris give you two flowerings instead of one: the usual late-spring display, then a second flush in late summer or early autumn on the same plants. It is the same height, the same sword-like foliage and the same easy temperament — just more flowers for the space.

Why grow Reblooming Iris Rhizomes

A clump that flowers twice is worth two clumps that flower once, especially in a small garden. The second flush is not as heavy as the first, but it lands at a moment when the border is usually empty, which makes it disproportionately valuable. Keep them fed and watered after the first bloom and the rebloom is reliable.

How to plant and care for it

Plant rhizomes in autumn in full sun, with the top just at soil level. The key to reblooming is not letting them dry out completely in midsummer — give them a deep soak every ten days during the gap between flushes, and a high-potash feed after the spring flowers fade. Cut the old flower stems back to the base, but never cut the foliage until autumn.
