Coral peonies are the social-media sensation of the peony world — a colour that simply did not exist a generation ago and now sells out every spring. This listing is built around a true coral-orange bloom that opens to soft salmon as it matures.
These are herbaceous peonies with 6–8 inch semi-double blooms on 30–36 inch plants, flowering in late spring. The coral tone is most intense as the bud cracks and fades to a romantic salmon as the flower opens, so every stem shows two colours at once. Pick 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 roots above — the per-root price drops as the pack grows.
Plant the eyes 1–2 inches below the soil in full sun to light shade, water in well and mulch lightly. Peonies are fully hardy in zones 3–8 and, once established, return bigger every year. First-year blooms are few; by year three the clump is full.
