Yellow peonies are the rarest and most coveted colour in the peony world, mostly tree-peony types with a glow that no other flower matches. This collection covers golden yellow, clear lemon, soft buttercream and a smart yellow-and-pink bicolour.
These are primarily tree peonies that grow into 4–6 foot shrubs with 6–8 inch blooms in late spring, plus a herbaceous bicolour. Yellow holds its colour beautifully in the garden and is stunning as a cut flower. Choose your shade above, then pick 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 roots — the per-root price drops with larger packs.
Plant tree peonies with the graft union 4–6 inches below the soil against a sheltered, dappled-sun spot; herbaceous types with eyes 1–2 inches deep in full sun. Hardy in zones 4–8. Tree peonies are slow but live for generations.
