Yellow tulips are the ones that lift a border on a grey April morning. This collection moves from a saturated golden yellow, through clear lemon, to a soft primrose and a buttercream double that looks almost edible.
Yellow reads further than any other colour, so a block of 15 bulbs will carry a front garden on its own. Pair it with the purple collection for the strongest contrast in the spring garden, or with white and cream for something calmer. The lily-flowered and parrot forms here have pointed, reflexed petals that look good backlit and last well when cut.
Plant 6–8 inches deep and 4–6 inches apart in full sun. Yellow fades fastest in heat, so a spot with afternoon shade holds the colour longer. Hardy in USDA zones 3–8.
